Thank you for visiting my "MG Walk" personal fundraising page!
I was first impacted by MG a little more than seven years ago. The onset came on my flight from The Bahamas to Chicago as I was returning from my daughter's wedding. I ended up driving home from O'Hare International Airport battling double vision! A white knuckle ride, for sure!! I made it home safely (I'm sure my Guardian Angel was working overtime on that journey!), and began making the rounds of doctors the next day. I was finally diagnosed after many, many doctor visits and many, many tests! In the meantime, I had to retire from a wonderful job that I loved. That was difficult to do and both painful and sad, but I am now able, with medical supervision and drug therapy, to live a pretty normal life. The one life-and energy-giving activity that I tenaciously clung to was my participation in my church choir. But the progression of the disease has often caused me to miss rehearsal for both Sunday choir and concert choir, as well as regular participation in both.Thank God for my family and friends who continue to help and support me, and accept me as I am, despite limitations.
I am excited to be supporting the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America (MGFA) through the MG Walk. The MGFA is the only national volunteer health agency in the United States dedicated solely to the fight against myasthenia gravis.
MGFA is committed to finding a cure for myasthenia gravis and closely related disorders, improving treatment options, and providing information and support to people with myasthenia gravis through research, education, community programs, and advocacy.
I am both thrilled and humbled to see that as of this date (9/9/17), my Team is in second place for donations raised thanks to all of you and your kind generosity. If you have not already done so, please register to walk with me OR make a pledge to help me reach my goal!
