Thank you for visiting Team Jersey Strong's "MG Walk" team fundraising page!
We are excited to be supporting the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America (MGFA) through the MG Walk. The MGFA is the only national volunteer health agency in the United States dedicated solely to the fight against myasthenia gravis.
MGFA is committed to finding a cure for myasthenia gravis and closely related disorders, improving treatment options, and providing information and support to people with myasthenia gravis through research, education, community programs, and advocacy.
Please register to walk with us on Saturday, March 10, 2018 OR make a pledge to help us reach our goal!
The walk will be held at Brook Run Park in Dunwoody, GA (1 or 3 mile routes will be available). Check-In begins at 9:00 AM; Walk Ceremony begins at 10:00 AM.
Together We Can Make A Difference!
Here's Carla's story ...
I was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis (MG) in 1994. I experienced slurred speech, weakness in my arms and neck muscles and double vision. While undergoing test after test after test, I eventually went into crisis, which sent me to the ICU – where I was diagnosed with MG. After surgery to remove my thymus gland, another MG crisis, plasmapheresis, IVIG treatments and years of being on prednisone and cellcept, I went into remission ... YAAAAAY!!! Unfortunately, in July 2012, some of the symptoms came back and in November 2013, I was very close to going into crisis, again.
I am currently praying I'll be able to taper off prednisone very soon.
