Thank you for visiting our "MG Walk" Team Mario and Team Machado fundraising page!
As many of you know, four years ago, my father, Mario Machado was diagnosed with myasthenia gravis (MG). Myasthenia gravis is a chronic autoimmune disease in which antibodies mistakenly attack and destroy neuromuscular connections, causing weakness in muscles that control basic movements that include walking, swallowing, blinking, breathing, and smiling. Many patients are unable to enjoy their daily lives, attend school, or work. While there are treatments, there is currently no cure for MG.
Much of my father’s progress is contributed to the continued research through the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America (MGFA). MGFA is the only national volunteer health agency dedicated to MG, and is committed to finding a cure, improving treatment options, and providing information and support to MG patients through research, education, community programs, and advocacy. In an effort to raise awareness and funds, MGFA hosts walks from coast to coast.
In addition to raising funds, the MG Walk generates awareness, renews hope, and creates a community of caring and sharing. The MG Walk enables patients to talk about their illness – some for the first time, and experience an outpouring of support, concern, and a pledge from family, friends, and coworkers to do more.
On Saturday June 10, 2017, my family is joining the TriState MG Walk to help raise money for research, so people like my father, Mario Machado, can one day live without myasthenia gravis. Please help this year be just as great as last year.
Thank you for your time and consideration. Your support will be a great help, not only today, but for generations to come. If you can, please contribute to “Team Mario” at http://join.mgwalk.org/machado
Please give today and help me enable the MGFA to walk towards a world without myasthenia gravis.
Thank you very much.
