Thank you for visiting my "MG Walk" personal fundraising page!
I was recently diagnosed with Myasthenia in January of this year. Although I dealt with the double vision and droopy eyelid of MG for 10 years, it was never diagnosed. In December my symptoms became generalized and I had a hard time standing, walking, getting up, climbing the stairs, holding up my head, eating and using my fingers. Doing just ordinary tasks like eating or giving the kids a bath became painful and difficult.
Although I have challenging days, I consider my self lucky because the medicine is helping so far. Not everyone is as lucky, and not everyone is diagnosed right away. I want to walk to help raise money for this rare life-long disorder that currently does not have a lot of information about. Hopefully we can become more educated on the cause and treatment so that everyone can continue living a "normal" life.
I am excited to be supporting the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America (MGFA) through the MG Walk. The MGFA is the only national volunteer health agency in the United States dedicated solely to the fight against myasthenia gravis.
MGFA is committed to finding a cure for myasthenia gravis and closely related disorders, improving treatment options, and providing information and support to people with myasthenia gravis through research, education, community programs, and advocacy.
Please register to walk with me OR make a pledge to help me reach my goal!
