Thank you for visiting my "MG Walk" personal fundraising page! I am excited to be able to spread awareness again this year
For those who do not know, here is a little of my story: I have been battling this disease since 2014. Before my first symptom appeared I was a strong, healthy man pursuing my goal of becoming a firefighter. My body declined quickly after my diagnosis was made at Grady Hospital. I lost the ability to eat, talk, even walk. Eventually in August 2014 my immune system had attacked my body so much that it shut down my ability to breath on my own. This is called a Crisis. It lead to a 3 week stay in Kennestone Hospital. I was on a ventilator for 2 1/2 weeks. It was a scary situation.
This disease is life threatening as at anytime a person can go into crisis and. We lost dear a few dear people to this disease in 2017.
I am thankful to have great doctors and medical support. Yet many still do not. That is why we need the support of the community. We are working hard to spread awareness and to raise funds to aid in more research. These donations go to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America. We need your help! $1 or $100, it doesn't matter. Join our fight!
I am excited to be supporting the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America (MGFA) through the MG Walk. The MGFA is the only national volunteer health agency in the United States dedicated solely to the fight against myasthenia gravis.
MGFA is committed to finding a cure for myasthenia gravis and closely related disorders, improving treatment options, and providing information and support to people with myasthenia gravis through research, education, community programs, and advocacy.
Please register to walk with me OR make a pledge to help me reach my goal! My fight with Myasthenia Gravis and that of thousands more like me is ongoing and it is difficult, yet we are hopeful. We need your help!
